ANDY Baird has been offered a lifeline by third division Exeter City.

The former Wanderers striker has been given the chance to ressurect his career by former Adams Park team-mate John Cornforth, who is now in charge of the Devon club.

Cornforth has contacted Baird and wants to invite him down for a trial during the Grecians pre-season tour of Finland.

Baird told the BFP: "I've spoken to him and we will speak again when he comes back from holiday.

"I obviously played in the same team as him and its nice that he saw something in me and has remembered me

"But we've only touched base so far and I need to talk to him and see if his thoughts correlate with mine."

Former Wanderers star Jason Cousins who was released alongside Baird in manager Lawrie Sanchez's summer cull is mulling over the offer of a contract at Ryman League Aldershot.

The Shots, who signed Wanderers legend Dave Carroll at the tail end of last season, are keen to strengthen their pack with the addition of the 31 year-old defender who was released after ten glorious years at Adams Park.
