ROWING: The Marlow Regatta Committee has added a number of new events to the programme for this years regatta at Dorney Lake.
The new events will be a Men's Senior 2 coxed fours event, Womens Junior 16 quad sculls, Mens Senior 1 single sculls and Mens Junior single sculls.
Marlow Regatta management committee member John Yeatman said the decision to expand had been taken after consultation with the Amateur Rowing Association and Women's Henley Regatta, over the same weekend.
Last year the regatta added a number of new junior events including Women's J15 quads and the new event in 2002 at J16 offers progression for up and coming juniors.
On the men's side, the Senior 1 coxed fours have grown over the past few years and the expansion reflects the fact that Marlow offers an opportunity for those wishing to enter the Britannia Coxed Fours at Henley a chance to test their pace. By introducing a Senior 2 coxed fours event, Marlow now offers crews a chance to show what they can do before the Henley qualifiers.
