FLACKWELL boss Neil Catlin was delighted with his side's performance after they beat Chalfont 3-2 in the local Division Three derby.

The match had been labelled a grudge game as Flackwell had three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player following their victory at home to Chalfont.

But Catlin was just happy with the Third Division win.

He said: "I didn't feel it was a grudge match or a derby. It's a shame we had the three points taken of us but I'm glad of the three points."

Gary Wiltshire scored the first on 32 minutes for the Heathens, finishing off a fine move.

Chalfont struck straight back through, when Chris Powell scored with a forceful header from a Christian Ayres corner.

But Flackwell scored again at a crucial time of the game when it looked as if the teams would be going into the break level.

Just before half-time, Gavin Mernagh took advantage of hesitation in the defence to slot home easily to make it 2-1.

Mernagh then doubled the Heathens lead on 80 minutes, heading in a Rob Anson free kick and Flackwell held on to win despite a goal in the dying minutes by Gavin Windell.

Flackwell now have a relegation battle away at Clapton on Saturday and will leapfrog over Clapton if they win.

Catlin said: "We're going for the win. It's another big game."

The Heathens are at full strength for the game except for centre half John Pettifer, who is out with a hamstring injury.

Catlin is also hoping to make a loan signing of a player from Windsor as cover.

Chalfont are away at Dorking, one place ahead of them in Division Three.

They will be hoping to get back to the same form as last week's run which saw them take the maximum six point from two games.
