LIVE music. You can't beat it. The energy of the music, the dynamics of the band and the feeling you get when a song really touches you. These emotions are great, when you're there, but listening to a recording afterwards ... well, it's not the same. Is it?

The Tricks are a brave band to have considered producing a live CD with recordings from their gigs at High Wycombe's White Horse and London's Half Moon pub alongside studio recordings taken at Metropolis Studios.

I listened. I listened hard and I could hear the difference of location on each track. There's the carefully planned chord changes and melodies on the studio tracks including Because You're Happy. Then there's the live, rawer but more honest gig sounds (feedback, shortness of breath and guitar chaos etc) with French Tune, Missing You and I Am The One. Tonight is the track The Tricks have recorded live and also put a studio version as the last track. The difference? Well I know which one I prefer to hear and which one to see.

Look on the internet www.thetricks.co.uk and you can find the CD available for £4.
