SPEEN School has been helping children in war-ravaged Sierra Leone alongside the RAF.

Squadron Leader Nick Newman, whose son six-year-old son Alexander attends the school in Flowers Bottom Lane, is serving with British forces in Sierra Leone.

Sq Ldr Newman asked his wife, Tracy, if she could collect some old clothes for him to take back to the war-torn country and she, in turn, asked parents at Speen School if they had anything to donate.

Parents and children at the school collected two large box-fulls and the RAF agreed to fly the donated clothes to Sierra Leone on the next re-supply flight. The biggest donation was made by Wycombe Mosque through the families of two children at the school.

Sq Ldr Newman is planning to distribute them to schools and children in the villages near where he is based.
