Chiltern Open Air Museum is the biggest tourist attraction in Southern Buckinghamshire, it was established 28 years ago in Chalfont St Giles with the aim of preserving some of the historic buildings which are unique examples of the heritage of the Chilterns.

Today, more than 30 buildings all rescued from demolition have been re-erected on the museum's 45 acre woodland and parkland site.

The buildings span 2000 years of history, and include a 1940s Prefab (from Amersham), a 19th century Toll House (originally from High Wycombe), an Iron Age settlement reconstruction and a Victorian Farm Yard.

The Farm features a rare breed Oxford Down Sheep and also goats, rabbits and other animals which are always popular with visitors.

The Museum holds hands-on activities and demonstrations during the season where you can find out about brick making, straw plaiting or rag rug making and many other crafts and building skills. You could also get the chance to try some of these out and make something to take home.

Chiltern Open Air Museum is open daily between 10am and 5pm until Friday, October 29. Admission: Adults £6, Children (5-16 yrs) £3.50, Children under five free. Family Ticket (2 + 2) £16.50.
