SCI-FI addicts Nancy Cox and Matthew Saunders celebrated an out-of-this-world wedding dressing as characters from Dr Who.

Doctors, Daleks and the infamous Tardis were among guests as the couple tied the knot in a unique episode of the cult series.

And Midweek was on hand to add a little extra magic to the day, arranging a surprise phone call from the show's sixth doctor, Colin Baker.

Nancy, who met fellow Dr Who fanatic Matthew five years ago, said: "My family think I'm totally nuts. But we just wanted to do something different."

"When we met I was more of a Blake Seven fan, but Matthew has converted me. We thought it would be fun to invite guests to dress up as characters. We've hired all sorts of props a Dalek, the Tardis, even K-9 the robotic dog."

The couple, from Beechwood Close, Little Chalfont, met while working for Easynet in London, and an inter-galatic attraction soon became clear.

Nancy, 34, dressed as Doctor sidekick Romana added: "I had the Blake Seven spaceship The Liberator as a screensaver. Matthew came over, and it just went from there."

The couple married at Deansway United Reformed Church, Chalfont St Giles, on Saturday, before moving to The Bedford Arms in Chenies for a reception with a difference.

With Daleks marshalling the entrance, tables named after planets, and even the cake topped with an old-fashioned police box, guests could have forgiven themselves for thinking they were stuck in a Dr Who timewarp.

Best man Andy Davies, who dressed as the doctor's nemesis Master, said: "It's all great fun. There are some great touches jelly babies on the tables, daffodils, scarves. They've thought of everything.

"Matt's a complete addict. He's got all the books and every single episode on video. He's even got a selection of rare clips."

But not even the fanatical couple were prepared when former Dr Who, and Bucks Free Press columnist, Colin Baker called to add his congratulations.

Matthew, 29, sporting the Doctor's infamous cloak, said: "I can't believe it. I can't believe Dr Who is on the phone.

"How great is that?"
