Lawrie Sanchez was appointed as Wycombe Wanderers manager in February, 1999 and was soon hailed as a messiah after he led the team away from near-certain relegation.
His stock continued to rise as he took Wycombe beyond the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in 2001, eventually taking the second division club to the semi-final.
But fallouts with the fans, along with a poor run of results and the loss of star players, saw the former Wimbledon player being criticised on the terraces.
He was eventually sacked in October 2003.
Sanchez was then appointed manager of Northern Ireland less than four months after being told he wasn't good enough for the Blues.
