MAYOR elect Nigel Vickery has decided which good cause he wishes to support when he takes up the position of High Wycombe's first citizen in May.
Cllr Vickery (Lab, Booker and Castlefield) will be weighed in as mayor on May 17 and has decided he wants to support young people with his appeal.
He said: "It is early days yet but I am certainly looking into my mayor's appeal. Hopefully it will be something along the lines of bringing sport and youngsters together as children play a big part in both the lives of myself and my other half.
"We will support disabled sports in the town and support youngsters who need a bit more help."
Current High Wycombe mayor Mahboob Hussain (Con, Cressex and Frogmoor) is urging people to give generously during the last four months of his heart appeal.
He wishes to raise £50,000 for two heart machines for Wycombe Hospital and the appeal has so far raised around £14,000.
Cllr Hussain said: "The appeal has come to a very crucial stage now because I have only got four months left.
"The way things are going we can only stay optimistic and hope we do reach it."
