MARGARET Deakin will be giving a talk on Sunday evening that looks at Peru - Land of the Incas. She is a well-established speaker and has travelled extensively bringing first hand experience to the topics she presents. The venue will be Woodrow High House where your £12.50 ticket includes a two-course supper, coffee and talk. TREASURE HUNT with a difference will take place at the Amersham School on Sunday. True to the age of the automobile, for this hunt you will need a car, driver, navigator and back seat drivers if you wish. After you have followed the clues and found the treasure by driving around the Amersham area, there will be a barbecue back at base. Cost is £6 per adult, £3 children and £15 for a family. UPHOLSTERY classes are due to start soon here in Amersham. This craft goes back many years and while it is not regarded as a trade nowadays there is still a lot of interest in this on a hobby basis. ANDREW Stewart will be giving a talk all about Indoor Living at the Gardening Association's next meeting on Thursday evening at the Barn Hall in the Community Centre. The talk will cover houseplants, conservatory growing and everything to do with the indoor garden. It's ideal for those with a small garden or none at all.

Andrew has spent a lifetime in horticulture and is a former plant nursery manager; he lectures at various colleges and is currently the senior horticulturist at Van Haag's Garden Centre in Ware, Hertfordshire. The talk starts at 8pm and non-members are welcome for an admission fee of £2.

BADMINTON Summer Club for those of intermediate standard takes place on Fridays from 8pm to 10pm at Dr Challoner's High School on Cokes Lane, Little Chalfont. This locally based group welcomes new players both ladies and gents to play over the summer months. IF you are into cycling or more specifically mountain biking then the Chiltern 1st XV Mountain Bike Club could be just for you. This group meets regularly and started from a few casual rides by a group of friends. The group has grown since those early days and now offers regular rides. CRICKET CLUB has its home at Shardeloes located just off the main A413. The club has a number of active teams for both adults and younger players. Every week there are a number of fixtures against local sides and cup matches are contested too.

Today the Under 11s play Ballinger while the under 15s have a cup match against Penn and Tylers Green.
