AN ANGRY motorist from Princes Risborough who is fed up with tailgaters has produced a car sticker to warn any trailing cars to back off.

Chris Brooks, from Picts Lane, started to slow down after picking up nine points on his licence for a series of speeding offences.

Mr Brooks' reduced speed attracted tailgaters on busy roads, so to vent his anger he designed a sticker showing a picture of a tortoise followed by the words "Nine points, that's why!" in bold red.

Since designing the sticker, he says he has noticed a reduction in the number of "morons trying to go faster" and an increase in "smiles and friendly toots".

Mr Brooks, who travels around 40,000 miles a year, said: "The reaction I have had from people has been amazing. It is only a small thing, but it really does seem to make a difference."

Mr Brooks set up a website with his friend Dick Darke, from Stratton Road, Princes Risborough, six weeks ago. They are offering the stickers to other motorists for £2.35.

The two men, both in their 60s, decided to launch the site as a joke. However, following articles in Auto Express and The Daily Telegraph, the website received 1,000 hits in a week from other fed up and frustrated motorists.

Mr Brooks said: "We just did it for a laugh but the whole thing has really taken off.

"I am thrilled to bits. The idea seems to be accelerating and if it does get bigger we will have to put a bit more time into it. I am getting emails all the time from people all over the country giving their support and saying that the cheque is in the post.

"My wife has been sending the stickers out. I suppose we have done about 50 so far."

Mr Brooks has been caught by several speed cameras in the local area, including in West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, and Aylesbury Road in Monks Risborough.

He added: "I don't blame anybody for my tickets, that's my fault. I just can't stand the tailgaters. They don't intim-idate me, they just make me very angry."
