OUR small town, Marlow, has comparatively good local amenities. Importantly, we have two strategically-sited public toilet blocks in concentrated pedestrian and motorist locations, at either end of the High Street.

With the proposed over-expansion of Waitrose for their own commercial aspirations, Waitrose want to demolish the adjacent well-utilised public toilets.

Conversely, in the Higginson Park redesign proposals, the remaining public toilet facilities, conveniently situated near the main park entrance, adjoining the High Street, Pound Lane, children's playground, and large central car park, are also under threat of removal/resiting.

In the latter case, in addition to normal daily usage, there is a huge inflow from park events, day trippers, and tourist coaches, making its retention on the existing site even more essential.

For the town to retain its user-friendly reputation it's vital that these important amenities are provided and/or enhanced, not removed.
