TWO elderly women had money stolen from their homes after they were tricked by teenagers.

One woman was robbed while she helped search for a missing kitten, and the other victim was targeted while she helped a teenager look for his ball.

One of the burglaries took place at around 10.30am on Saturday, July 16, in Cordons Close, Chalfont St Peter.

The woman became aware of a youth in her house and when she confronted him, he said he was looking for his missing cat.

He then searched the house while distracting the pensioner.

The woman later found that money was missing from her purse, which she kept in her bedroom.

The boy was white, 16-years-old, 5ft 9ins and slim. He had short, light brown hair and was wearing light coloured clothes.

PC Darren Frost, said: "The woman involved in this incident was very brave to confront the boy, but has been left shaken by the ordeal.

"Only one person was seen in the house by the resident, but it is possible that there was an accomplice who remained unseen.

"These type of offenders often work in pairs, and the most effective method to prevent such offences is to fit and use doorchains or doorbars, and ensure that all exterior doors are locked when not in use.

The second burglary took place in Elizabeth Avenue, Little Chalfont, on Thursday, July 14 at between 5.20pm and 6pm. The pensioner helped the thief search her garden for around ten minutes before he thanked her and left. The woman later discovered that someone had been into her house and stolen her purse.

The boy was white, around 14 or 15 years-old. He was between 5ft and 5ft 4ins tall and chubby build, with short dark brown hair. He had a smart appearance and was well spoken and extremely polite.
