The recent letter from the chairman of Wooburn Park Cricket and Tennis Association seems to be spreading confusion in order to reopen the question of the Wooburn Park Pavilion.

The parish council hs not submitted any plans for their proposed refurbishment, and so his figures are completely speculative.

He ignores two important points.

The existing cricket pavilion and pitch have been used happily by generations of cricketers for around 40 years, with many comments about their beautiful setting. The original cricket pitch and pavilion, going back almost 100 years, have always been in that corner of the park.

The parish council (owners of the park) decided to refurbish the existing cricket pavilion after almost two years of consultation with all users of the park, including footballers, kite flyers, dog walkers, bird watchers and many others who well outnumber the cricket and tennis players.

A recent survey of the present cricket pavilion commissioned by the parish council indicated that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with it, and that it could be brought up to a satisfactory standard for as little as £15,000.

If the Sports Association is sincere in its desire to downsize, perhaps it can please the taxpayers by matching that figure?
