WYCOMBE MP Paul Goodman wants to hear about people's experiences of the Accident and Emergency department at Wycombe Hospital.

Since August, people needing surgery after accidents have been taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury. In turn, Wycombe has taken over all surgery for people needing routine operations. But the change has led once again to fears that A&E at Wycombe will eventually close.

Mr Goodman said: "I am beginning to get comments on what is happening to people that go to A&E, which I am putting together, so if anyone has any comments pass them on to me.

"It will be any information at all, whether good or bad."

He said people were claiming that the changes were a halfway house to shutting A&E. They were telling him that more and more people would be sent either to Wexham Park or Stoke Mandeville and eventually Wycombe A&E might be shut down because no one was using it.

"This argument is being put to me, though I am not saying I accept it," said the MP.

He has not met the hospital chiefs to talk about this but said he wanted to.

A Buckinghamshire Hospitals' Trust spokesman said in a statement this week that a 24 hour life-saving A&E department would remain at Wycombe and deal with 85 per cent of the emergency needs of local people.
