Editors have been making waves in the music industry since their album The Back Room' was released in July 2005, reaching No 13 in the UK album chart.
With debut single Bullets, singer Tom Smith produced a distinctly English sound and the band proved themselves to be talented musicians even though they did not receive chart success with Bullets, only reaching No 52. Their second single Munich was a faster more electronic track with a theme of love, Editors continued their rise up the British charts with this single entering at No 22. Latest single Blood has had the highest chart success with it entering the charts at No 14.
However, this band is not just a singles bands as is proved on their album by standout tracks such as the wonderfully emotive Fall and the ambient tone of Distance. Fingers In The Factories is another standout track filled with clean guitars and a catchy drumbeat.
The band from Birmingham appeared on The Other Stage at Glastonbury this year and on T4 Sunday. Influential radio stations such as Radio One and Xfm have made Editors their record of the week and they begin touring with Franz Ferdinand in November. www.editorsofficial.com
Monday September 26, The White Room, BCUC; 8PM Thee Unstrung have been described by NME as the best new band since The Libertines'. Thee Unstrung have been touring constantly for the last year since debut single Contrary Mary was released through Poptones last November entering at No 57 in the charts. They recently supported Feeder on their mammoth tour. Their second single Psycho gained more public interest, reaching No 41 in the charts. Thee Unstrungs debut album Lie Cheat and Steal' has not been released yet.
