IF you think that breaking windows in Marlow High Street is a relatively recent activity, then you've obviously never seen this quite well-known photo that dates back to 1880.
The declaration of the local result in the General Election sparked a full-scale riot with considerable damage to the campaign headquarters of the opposing parties, firstly to the Town Hall with adjoining Crown and then to The Brewery House and White House as pictured here.
These are largely unchanged 125 years later (apart from the replacement glass) although the connecting archway passage doesn't appear to be visible in Anthony Wethered's book The Power And The Brewery which is still in print or available at the library.
