Sonny Gill walked away with a Children's BAFTA award for Drama this month for his role in My Life As A Poppat.

The 16-year-old has only been acting for a short time, and it was only his second audition that got him the part.

This was the 10th Children's BAFTA awards which took place in the London Hilton, and along with Sonny several other kids from the High Wycombe area were in shows which were nominated for Best Drama.

All four of the programmes nominated in the category starred local young actors. The annual awards arranged by the British Academy to recognise excellence in Children's Film and Television, and includes a vote made by children to decide the winner of their favourite film in the BAFTA Kids' vote.

Chloe Smyth who is 13, had the lead role in Best Friends, nominated for Best Drama. Clare Thomas is 16 and recently acted in All About George and Life Begins.

She also took a lead role in Fungus the Bogeyman which was also nominated in the drama category.

She played alongside Jordan Metcalfe, who is 19. The final nomination, Tracey Beaker, starred Ryan Nelson who is 14.

But My Life As A Poppat walked away with the prize, prompting Sonny Gill to say "I can't believe it" when he heard the show had won.
