ORGANISERS were refusing to reveal the location of 15 newly opened racial abuse centres because they claimed they would be inundated with inquiries.
The bases were opened by the Wycombe Racial Incidents Group (WRIG) in a bid to stamp out racial harassment in High Wycombe.
WRIG, which included members of Wycombe District Council and the Racial Equality Office, decided not to publicise the exact location of the centres but Wycombe District Councillor Sebert Graham, (Lab, Bowerdean and Daws Hill) criticised the decision.
He said: "If they are going to be useful centres that are going to serve the public, then there should be no secrecy over where they are."
Miriam de Groot-Cordery, chairman of WRIG, said: "We were reluctant to do that publish the list of addresses of the centres because we anticipated that we would be inundated."
Jennifer Larch, of the Race Equality Office in Desborough Road, who pioneered the project said: "We want the project to be fairly low key at this stage."
