A FAMILY tradition to deck the house in Christmas lights has been carried on by two daughters in memory of their dad who died earlier this year.
Sydney Johnson, who died on March 20, had put up a display with his daughter Joanne Baker each year and the family wanted to put up the lights extravaganza again this Christmas in his honour.
Ms Baker, with the help of sister Kim Skate, put the display together this year at her house in Water End Lane, Beacon's Bottom.
Ms Skate said: "After a lot of pondering we decided our dad would want us to carry on where he left off. We like to think our dad is looking down on us and is proud of what we have done."
Ms Baker, whose son Joshua suffers from cerebral palsy, said her father had started putting up the lights for his grandson.
She said: "He did it to see the joy on his grandson's face."
This year the display is raising money for the Mary Towerton School in Water End Lane.
The display is one of many entries to the annual Star Christmas Lights Competition, to find the best festive house display in the district.
We are urging people to send in their pictures and vote online for their favourites. The winner will receive £100 of Tesco vouchers.
