YEAR five pupils showed why they could compete with the best of Santa's toy makers this Christmas.
Children from St Paul's Church of England Combined School in Wooburn Green were set the task of making their own toys in design and technology.
The class of 31 were asked to make a toy which could accommodate a mechanism to make it move in a controlled way.
The toys were made of balsawood and the children used newly learnt carpentry skills to make them.
Melanie Selwood, secretary at the school in Stratford Drive, said: "They did lots of research and explored all the toys. They also brought toys into school and had great fun doing it."
The class were helped in their toy adventure by teacher, Lindsey Radstone, and the task was part of their National Curriculum.
