A MOONLIT, sponsored walk through the villages of the Chilterns will mark the third anniversary of Thomas Ball's death.

The Dream Walk is being organised by Thomas' mum Elaine, of Sixty Acres Road, Prestwood, and the other trustees of the Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund. The aim is to raise money to take poorly children on a dream holiday to Disneyland Resort Paris.

Thomas died from neuroblastoma, a rare cancer, when he was 14-years-old.

The Ball family pet, Franco the German shepherd, has been getting his own sponsorship for the night.

He has raised almost £500 so far and Mrs Ball says he is looking forward to his extra long walk.

Mrs Ball said: "Everyone will be wearing a reflective jacket, because it will be so dark.

"We are hoping to raise the money to take the children away like we did last year.

"We are working with Wycombe Hospital who are already looking into which children might be coming.

"A memory book will be available on the night for walkers to leave messages in memory of their loved ones or in support of those who are suffering serious illness.

"This unique book will be held at the local library in Great Missenden for future reference."

A £15 registration fee will go to the Thomas Ball fund but volunteers are welcome to get sponsorship for any charity they choose.

Walkers will leave Great Missenden Memorial Hall at midnight on Friday, June 30, and walk ten miles through the surrounding villages of Prestwood, Great Kingshill, Terriers, Hazlemere, Holmer Green, Little Kingshill and back to Great Missenden for an early breakfast and presentation of certificates.
