A WOMAN who was adopted as a baby is appealing to the people of Princes Risborough to find out more about her biological father.

Jane Roach who now lives in West Sussex was born in Princes Risborough on November 16 1952 and has found scraps of information about her dad.

His name was John or Jack Spriggs and he worked at Witchers Garage next to the train station as a chauffeur.

Jane said: “If only I could find a few more clues. It is the not knowing who he was. I am made up of two people- I have met family from my mother's side and I don't feel very akin to them.

“I think a lot of my make up probably came from the other side. It is quite important to know where I came from.

“I have one son who is 33. When I had him he was the one person that I knew who was related to me- my own flesh and blood.”

She started to look for her birth parents three years ago.

She said: “I was hoping there might be someone in Princes Risborough who would probably now be in their 80s that would remember him.

"I don't think he will still be alive but I want to know more about him."

Jane managed to trace her birth mother but was unfortunately too late to meet her as she died in 1995. Her maiden name was Peggy Gittings and her married name was Catling.

She said she believes her father was older than her mother who was 31 and a widow when Jane was born and thinks they met at the Bird in Hand in Princes Risborough.

Her mother was living with her parents in Summerleys Road.

Jane added: “I have found out as much information as I can.”

If you think you can help Jane trace any information regarding her father then please email rcain@london.newsquest.co.uk and the information will be passed on.
