THREE people are to stand in a by-election in Amersham next month following the resignation of a Chiltern district councillor.

The Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats are all fielding candidates in the by-election for the Amersham on the Hill ward.

It was called following last month's resignation of Cllr Ronnie Lamont, who was on a year-long leave of absence from Chiltern District Council duty.

Current Amersham town councillor Howard Maitland-Jones is standing for the Lib Dems at the election, with Peter Harper representing Labour and Nigel Shepherd the Conservative party.

Polling will take place at St John's Methodist Church in Woodside Road from 7am-10pm on Thursday May 6. The last date for registration for voting in the by-election is Tuesday April 20.
