A FAMILY have paid tribute to police officer and dad of one Sean McColgan who died following a collision in Denham.

The 37-year-old man died when his blue Suzuki motorcycle collided with a black Ford Fiesta on the A412 Denham Avenue (North Orbital) at the junction with Tilehouse Lane on April 6 at around 9.30pm.

His family said: “Sean loved his job with a passion, surpassed only by his love for his wife and son.He loved his home, and his perfect day would be spent at the barbeque surrounded by his family and friends and copious amounts of beer.

“Sean had always enjoyed driving, and was very proud to pass three driving courses for the Metropolitan Police during his service.

”He planned to sit the sergeants' examination in 2011, and would have undoubtedly made an exceptional sergeant.”

He was born in Stockton-on-tees and brought up in High Wycombe- the only child of John and Anne McColgan who passed away in 2000 and 2001.

Sean, who was a keen footballer, joined the Metropolitan Police Service in June 2003. He was stationed at Hayes Police Station in Hillingdon Borough, where he met and married his wife, Tracey, who was a member of police staff, in 2005.

They moved to Rickmansworth in 2006 and became the proud parents of Evan Sean in November 2008.

His family added: “Sean was an extremely capable and conscientious officer, respected and well liked by his colleagues, and has already been greatly missed by his team at Hayes Police Station.

“Sean is an enormous loss to Tracey and Evan, and to his many close friends and colleagues, but he has left them with a wealth of cherished memories. His laughter and sense of fun remains with them always.”

Sean’s Borough Commander at Hillingdon Julian Worker said: "All our deepest sympathies are with Sean's family, friends and colleagues at this distressing time. Sean was a very conscientious, proactive and hard working officer.

“He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his camaraderie and the ability to put a smile on people's faces. He will be sadly missed."

Sean's funeral is at the West Herts Crematorium, Watford at 11.20am on Friday April 23 followed by a wake at Metropolitan Police Sports and Social Club, Bushey, Herts.

Donations in memory of Sean are welcome and should be made payable to 'Help for Heroes' which was close to Sean's heart.
