A ROWING club and a charity supporting children with brain disorders are among those to benefit from a donations hand-out bonanza.

Marlow and District Round Table have given £3,750 from its fundraising activities last year to six organisations.

The largest sum - £1,500 - went to Great Marlow School Rowing Club in Bobmore Lane.

Helen & Douglas House in Leopold Street, Oxford, which provides respite and end of life care for children and young adults from the Marlow area has been given £1,000 towards funding a hoist.

A £500 donation has been handed to Windsor Ascot Maidenhead District Sports Association for the Disabled to buy cutlery and crockery for its clubhouse – enabling it to be leased for functions to raise extra funds.

Brainwave which supports children with brain disorders by providing therapy and support was one of three charities to get £250.

Christian Lewis Trust Children’s Cancer Charity was the second recipient and will use the cash to help a Marlow family have a week’s holiday at one of its chalets in South Wales.

Marlow charity Bright Tomorrows which funds work with children with Aids in Zimbabwe and has recently sent help to Haiti also got £250.

Marlow Round Table chairman Andrew Gibson said the donations would “make a real difference”.

He said:“None of these donations would have been possible without the generosity of everyone who has supported our various fundraising events throughout the last 12 months.

“The Round Table’s ethos is based on supporting the local community and it's heartening that even in these tough economic times we have been able to help six organisations.

Marlow and District Round Table is a charity in the Marlow area for men aged between 18 and 45 who raise money for community organisations and projects.
