A MAN accused of murdering Jourdan Griffiths had gone out to get some 'weed' shortly before the 20-year-old was stabbed, a court heard today.

Lotto Williams' girlfriend yesterday told jurors at Reading Crown Court he had been "larking about" and playing badminton before leaving her house on the evening of June 29 last year.

The 19-year-old denies murder, along with Christopher Joseph, 22, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Andrew Hall, defending, told the court Williams had been staying at his girlfriend's house in Castlefield, High Wycombe, after falling out with his step mother.

He said Williams had been there for about ten days and was “pretty much living out of a bag”. Tammy Fisher, Williams' girlfriend at the time, said he left the house to get some 'weed' with Christopher Joseph at about 9.30pm.

Mr Griffiths died from a single stab wound after an 'attack' at a squat on White Hart Street, at about 11pm on June 29.

Williams and Joseph were arrested at about 11.30pm, after police saw them on Desborough Road.

Williams ran off when confronted by police, but was cornered in Cedar Terrace and brought down by an officer's 'sweeping kick', the court heard.

Joseph was 'compliant' with police when hand-cuffed, and asked them if it would take long, saying he had to be up early to go to work, jurors heard.

Police arrested the 17-year-old defendant on July 3 at a property in High Wycombe. Officers seized a pink box from the property, which contained one New Balance trainer, the court heard.

Investigators had found a matching shoe outside Buckinghamshire House – the squat where Mr Griffiths suffered the fatal stab wound, jurors heard last week.

The trial continues.
