FUNDRAISERS are aiming to set a new world record while raising money for charity – by doing the longest conga line while in fancy dress.

The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, which provides nursing care for terminally-ill patients in the Chiltern district, is looking for 1,100 people to take part in this year's 'Goodnight Walk'.

The annual eight-mile walk around Amersham and Little Chalfont has a Mardi Gras theme this year.

Helen Mariner from the Hospice said: “The Goodnight Walk is about having fun whilst helping local people at the same time and what better way to get everyone in a party mood than the world’s longest conga in fancy dress?

“We receive amazing support from the local communities in which we work and I’m sure that people will rise to the challenge to help us get into the record books.”

Last year's Goodnight Walk raised £120,000 for the Iain Rennie Hospice in a single night – allowing the charity to provide care for 1,000 patients and their families.

This year's walk starts at midnight on Saturday June 19 from the Amersham Polish Club in Raans Road.

Amersham Mayor Martin Phillips will be the event's official witness, proving a new world record has been set.

He said: “People in the Chilterns do a tremendous amount to help good causes such as the Iaian Rennie Hospice and I hope we can all come together to set a new world record, have fun and raise money to help local people at the same time.”
