PRINCES Risborough has received a cash boost from Wycombe District Council to help rejuvenate the town and entice more visitors.

The district council has given £25,000 to fund a two year project, supported by Princes Risborough Town Council, which hopes to revitalise the town.

Experts from the Action for Market Towns will be on hand to help the town's groups work together, provide help and advice while providing national representation.

The national not-for-profit organisation has been working with market towns across the country to help them fight the recession.

Chairman of Princes Risborough Town Council Alan Turner said: “It is the second phase of the town centre regeneration that the town council have been talking about for several years now. The first phase was the one way system.

“It will look at projects to improve the town centre and make it more attractive, boost popularity of the town, attract people in and boost the economy.”

The town council will be looking for residents to decide what projects they would like to boost regeneration of the town centre over two years.

Cllr Turner added that they tried to do a similar thing last year with The Civic Trust but it closed due to lack of funding.

He said: “We were left high and dry and we had to start all over again. We are really pleased with the funding from WDC.”

The town council will call a public meeting about how the project will proceed.
