A BEACONSFIELD woman is preparing for the adventure of a lifetime after agreeing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for charity.

Chantal Busbridge, 21, formerly a student at Wycombe High School, is hoping to raise over £2000 for Carers Bucks, an independent charity established in 2004 to support family carers in Buckinghamshire.

She explains that the team at Carers Bucks are close to her heart: “[They] really helped my Grandma when she became a full-time carer for my Grandpa, who has Alzheimer's, so it is my absolute privilege to raise this money for them.

“I made a promise to myself this year to do something amazing for charity, something terrifying. I'm quite impulsive so this seemed like a good idea."

Mount Killimanjaro in north-eastern Tanzania is one of the tallest free-standing mountains in the world, with its summit standing at 4600m.

Chantal admits that the expedition, which is being organised through Warwick University, where she is currently studying, won't be easy.

“The scary thing is stuff like the high altitude, and the unpredictable conditions”, she said.

However, despite having “never climbed a mountain”, the History student is optimistic about the climb: “I'm really excited. I'm loving the training, and I figure that if Chris Moyles can get to the top then so can I!”.

The climb will take place on 6th July 2010. To make a donation click the link below.
