A MAN wearing a large foam hat threatened a member of staff at a newsagents in Iver Heath with a knife yesterday.

He demanded money from the till after entering Martins Newsagents on Slough Road at 12.35pm before stealing cash after threatening the cashier with the weapon.

Police are now looking for the man and are also keen to speak to a woman who went into the shop just as he was leaving.

The robber was wearing a large England foam hat with a red cross on the top and horizontal stripes on the sides, which was pulled down over his face.

Det Con Tim Waterworth, investigating the incident, said: “The offender was wearing a very distinctive England hat and I would urge anybody in the Iver Heath area who has seen a man wearing a hat like this yesterday to contact me.

“We are particularly keen to trace a white woman who entered the shop immediately after the offender left as she may have vital information.

“A man on the other side of the road saw the offender make off and we urgently need to speak to him. This man spoke to police at the time but we have not been able to locate him since.

“Thankfully these incidents are very rare. I would urge the community to come forward with any information that they may have so that we can apprehend the offender before he commits further offences.”

Nobody was injured during the attack.

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Waterworth on 08458 505 505 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
