A GROUP of stray cats got the winning feline as they triumphed in a football tournament to remember a much missed friend.

The third annual Kids in Sport five-a-side tournament took place last Saturday on the astro-turf pitches at the Wycombe Sports Centre, Handycross.

The charity was set up by Roger and Pam Budd, of School Close, High Wycombe, following their son Julian's death from a rare breathing condition, aged 33, in 2007.

It has since raised tens of thousands of pounds (see website link below for more details).

The Stray Cats, from Marlow, beat last year's winners the Shrieks, made up of Julian's school friends, 6-3 in a thrilling final.

The event raised £1,108 for Kids in Sport which will go to helping youngsters in the area take part in sport.

Julian was known as a keen sportsman.

His father Roger said: “A really good day was had by all the players as well as the spectators.”

Wycombe Wanderers adopted Kids in Sport as its charity of the year for last season.
