MORE than 40 villagers gathered together in fancy dress and joined in a four legged tour between six pubs.

Labelled Le Grand Tour the race started in Lane End and raised £1,600 for the Lane End Youth and Community Centre and the primary school's trip to St Pierre D'Oleron next Easter.

Each team of three were tied together at the weekend and included Wycombe's Conservative MP Steven Baker.

They visited The Osborne, The Old Sun, Peacock and Brickmakers saluted The Chequers and finally rested at the Grouse & Ale, which all offered reduced prices.

Organiser Neil Butler said: “This all started as an idea to get to know a few more people in the village after I was made redundant from the Athletes Village last summer.

“We had so much fun that amidst hangovers we decided we should do it all again but bigger.”

The last one was held on April's Fools Day with 15 villagers which raised £200 for the Lane End Conservation Group.

Mr Butler added: “ It all goes to prove that village life is alive and kicking, will we do it again-I think so.

“Special thanks go to all those who donated towards the cause and to some new friends made.”
