A HANDGUN was used to threaten staff at a service station in Gerrards Cross by a man claiming to be an engineer.

He was led into a back office of the BP Service Station in Oxford Road, where he threatened a member of staff and demanded money.

But the would-be robber left empty-handed when he fled after the member of staff shouted for help.

The incident happened at 9.35am on Monday, with the man telling staff he was a service engineer and had come to service some of the equipment.

Police describe the man as being of Asian appearance. He was wearing a yellow hard hat and a high-visibility yellow tabard with florescent bands over the shoulders and was carrying a tool bag.

Investigating officer Det Con Anna Davison said: “The offender walked into the service station from the direction of Bulstrode Way and after the incident ran off the same way he had come.

“Although nobody was hurt in this incident, it was a terrifying ordeal for the staff; thankfully this type of incident is very rare. I would urge anybody with any information, no matter how small, to contact me as a matter of urgency to ensure the offender is caught.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Davison on 08458 505 505 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
