I WISH residents and West Wycombe Parish Council every success in their campaign for road safety improvements after the recent tragic loss of life and injuries in the village.

I have similar concerns in my area for Hatters Lane and Totteridge Lane.

With four schools adjacent to these roads, considerable housing development and two pedestrian deaths in 15 years, there is still not one controlled crossing facility on this two mile stretch. One main concern is the mini-roundabout on Hatters Lane at the junction with Hicks Farm Rise. I am convinced someone will be killed here.

I have spoken to local councillors, the fire brigade attending smash-ups at this junction and have sent two letters to Buckinghamshire County Council roads department. I received an acknowledgement but no reply.

Whilst most roads are engineered with good safety built in, when things are drastically wrong it seems nothing is done until death occurs.
