A FED-UP family say their local playground in Flackwell Heath is being “ruined” by people dropping litter.

Valerie Snapes, 58, has been clearing rubbish from the Oakwood play area with two of her grandchildren.

She said: “There's nasty sharp cans, bottles and burnt bits of cloth all lying around. We've collected quite a few things but there's too much to do it all.

Emily Mae, ten, and Leah Gregory, seven, go to Hughenden Primary School and regularly visit their grandmother's house in Oakwood.

Mrs Snapes said: “It's just such a shame because its a lovely little park and the council have just done it all up – but this is ruining it for the girls.”

Wycombe District Council is responsible for maintaining the play area and spokesman Sue Robinson said: “We are not aware of anyone reporting a litter problem at Oakwood to us, but we will ask our contractor to investigate the problem.

“There are waste bins provided in all our play areas and we hope that anyone using the play areas will either use the bins or take litter home with them so that people can enjoy these areas without the annoyance of litter.”
