RE: The parish council’s decision to remove the wooden fence around Wooburn Park play area following repeated vandalism (BFP, July 16).

AS a parent with two small children who constantly use the park, I was shocked and disappointed to hear that the fence will not be replaced.

I have a child who has a fear of dogs and a small baby who crawls around the grass area.

I do not want an experience like my last visit there, when an irresponsible dog owner had allowed their dog to foul in the immediate area and not cleaned it up and dogs were around the slide barking at the children coming down the slide.

I feel that as a local resident we should be able to enjoy our visit to the park without being pestered by dogs. Also by the council saying that they won’t replace the fence, what happens when one of our children get attacked by a dog?

I feel it is very irresponsible not replacing the fence and unfair to local residents who want to use the area and now can’t. Try explaining to a six-year old that we can’t go to the park as it is potentially not safe for the children! If the wooden fencing has not worked why can’t the council look at an alternative to enclose the area?
