FIVE people have been taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital after a two car collision in High Wycombe this morning.

Police were called to a collision between a black Vauxhall Astra and a blue Ford Ka at the junction with The Pastures and West Wycombe Road at 9.20am.

The driver of the Astra- a 22-year-old man from Sands- has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, police say.

The three passengers in the Astra and the driver of the Ka were also taken to hospital and are thought to have minor injuries.

Firefighters cut the roof off the Astra to release the driver.

Marlow Station Manager Keith Carmichael said three female passengers had been released before they attended.

He added: "The driver of the Astra was trapped because of his injuries.

"We took a standard approach and the priority is the person trapped.

"What we do is we decide a time scale and we removed the roof to allow the person to be released and he was taken to hospital."

Oxford Road was closed between Bellfield Road and The Pastures but re-opened before 1pm.
