FIREFIGHTERS are currently at the scene of a fire which ripped through a three storey house in Hambleden.

Four fire engines attended the fire in Main Road, Rotten Road when a call was received at 12.41pm.

Marlow Station Manager Keith Carmichael said no-one was injured in the fire. He said: “When we turned up it was a fully developed fire. The roof was fully involved in fire and partial collapse had already taken place.

“Half the building was involved in fire and the ground floor was starting to come involved.”

He added: “Very early on there was no life risk. The owners were out. I believe one of the neighbours had led the dog to safety. We salvaged what we could.”

He said “it is hard to say” the cause of the fire but it could “potentially be an electrical fault.”

Mr Carmichael said fire crews will stay there until the morning.

The British Red Cross Support Unit attended the fire to give practical advice to the family with help looking for accommodation.

Neighbour Sue Hollands said the family have lived there for 10 to 12 years and they were being provided accommodation in the village.

Son Will Hollands, 14, said: “I saw this huge plume of fire and loud pops. The flames were very high. A lot of smoke was going over the road.”
