MP David Lidington delighted organisers by opening North Dean village fête after the village moved into his constituency at the last election.
The “old fashioned” fête is held in the village and saw a host of activities throughout the day yesterday including children races and music from Pigotts Band.
Aylesbury MP Mr Lidington said: “I have always looked at North Dean enviously when it was represented by the Wycombe MP.
“You look down the field and it is like a scene from Midsomer Murders.”
He said he is trying to keep up with the individual case work and continues to keep up constituency Fridays when he is out and about in the community.
Mr Lidington, who is Europe Minister, presented a retirement gift to postman Mick Druce who is retiring after 23 years working for Royal Mail and ten years working in the village.
Mr Druce said: “I will miss the people. It is friendly and a bit of a laugh. I have seen some of the children grow up.”
He said he will find something to do part time to keep himself busy and hopes to take his four grandchildren to Disney World.
There was a prize giving section and lots of activities for the children to enjoy, with all money raised going towards the village hall.
Chairman of the village hall Andrew Howard said: “It is about supporting the community. It's about getting the village together and enjoying North Dean.
“It has always been very successful and very well supported. It is quite exciting for us to have a dignitary opening it.”
