FIVE women from Stokenchurch raised more than £2,200 for Breast Cancer Care by holding a pink themed disco.

Gina Weiss, Kirsty Campbell, Beth Day, Maria Cunningham and Joanna Bains held a Girls Pink Friday Disco for the charity's Pink Fridays campaign with an auction and raffle.

Gina, 40, organised the evening with four friends after she was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in May 2009.

She said Breast Cancer Care was her life line during her year of treatment and has made many friends from all over the country.

She said: “Without it I would have been in a very dark place but with Breast Cancer Care I was able to find out lots of information that you forget to ask your doctor as you are in shock, but most importantly I met people who knew exactly how I felt and was feeling”

Friends, family and colleagues turned out in force at Longburrow Hall, Stokenchurch in October dressed in pink.

Gina added: “A huge thank you to all the people who came along to the disco or showed their generous support.”
