DINERS were treated to celebrity culinary tips at a charity fundraising lunch in Marlow organised in aid of the Macmillan Cancer charity.

Mary Berry, cookery writer and judge on the popular television programme Great British Bake-off, was on hand to speak to diners about her time on the show, as well as signing books and dishing out secret tips on how to bake that perfect sponge cake.

The event, held at the Compleat Angler on March 15, raised £1000 for Macmillan Cancer support. The fundraising lunch was one of several previously organised by Sally Carter, who wanted to put something back after a childhood friend died from cancer.

"Mary was lovely" said Mrs Carter. "She was very interesting and spoke about her new series, as well as telling us a few anecdotes about her grandchildren! I'd like to thank all the local businesses and people who supported us, and for Mary for making the event a success".

Mrs Carter expects to hold another charity lunch later this year.
