WYCOMBE RFC and Maidenhead RFC have both lost in recent weeks, but Amersham & Chiltern just keep clocking up the wins and now, with three games to go, they are in pole.
Director of rugby Matt Allen said: “If Wycombe hadn’t lost those ten points they’d still be right there. They’re out of it now, but we weren’t thinking about them. We prefer looking up rather than down.”
Amersham weren’t at their best on Saturday but still beat Swanage 17-10 to remain four points adrift of Maidenhead but with a game in hand.
Allen said: “There is a lack of fear because we know who we’ve still got to play and we’ve beaten them all this season. We know we’ve just got to repeat those performances and that gives us a mental edge.”
Amersham are at Buckingham tomorrow, knowing a win bonus would take them clear.
