EAGLE eyed viewers may recognise some of the scenery in acclaimed ITV drama Downton Abbey tomorrow.
Some of the scenes in Sunday’s episode were shot at the award-winning Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles as it hits the spotlight again.
Having also recently featured in shows such as That Mitchell and Webb Look, Horrible Histories and The One Show, the museum is fast becoming a regular filming venue.
This time though staff had to stay tight-lipped about the arrival of the cameras as stars such as Dame Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville took centre stage among the old museum’s restored buildings.
Museum Director Sue Shave said: “The filming took place on March 14 this year but we were sworn to secrecy about it all, until the release date for the episode.
“Our wonderfully authentic Victorian farm was used as the location for Drakes Farm in the series and proved to be just the right venue for the Downton Abbey location scout.
“We are even more thrilled that the programme is gaining such global acclaim and this well and truly puts the Chiltern Open Air Museum on the map.”
Downton Abbey is screened at 9pm on ITV1 tomorrow evening.
