A LARGE bone and two hundred pieces of pottery have been uncovered at a suspected medieval site at Warren Wood, Marlow.
Archaeology in Marlow have been working at the location in Winchbottom Lane, Little Marlow, since March 2010 and are now close to finishing.
Once the final stages are wrapped up in about two weeks, the items uncovered will be sent off to experts to be dated.
AIM spokesman John Laker said: “The object of the exercise is to try to date the enclosures.
"We thought they were medieval. We have now found 200 pieces of pottery which will date the site.
“We will get a very good idea of when people were there and when they started there and when they left the site.”
He said the bone is probably from a sheep or goat.
Work in the outerenclosure of the digs appear to suggest activities dating back even further than medieval times – possibly Iron Age, the Neolithic era(4,000BC to 2,200BC), or perhaps the Mesolithic era (8,500 to 4,000BC).
