THE reason why a woman jumped from the Eden shopping centre car park, taking her own life, will remain a mystery to her family, an inquest heard.

Loraine Gomm, 50, jumped from the stairwell of the carpark on October 8 into Lily's Walk and was pronounced dead at the scene just after 5pm.

At an inquest at Wycombe Law Courts on Wednesday evidence was read out from a statement made by one of the shopping centre's security officers, Benjamin Montague, who was working that day.

He said he received a call from his team leader who said a member of the public had just told him someone was sat on the edge of the car park.

Mr Montague went to the Lily's walk side of the car park and crossed the road to look up and saw a female sat on the ledge at about the fifth floor outside of the safety railings.

As he looked up she let go of the railings and fell to the floor. The emergency services arrived and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Buckinghamshire coroner Richard Hulett said a note book was found with her which had her address in Valley Road, Hughenden written in it and a couple of brief notes.

There were a number of identical notes all saying the same thing. He said all she wrote was: "Very upset, fed up and sorry."

Mr Hulett said it seemed like there was something on her mind unknown to the family.

She lived with her father, Philip, and they were going to move.

Mr Gomm said she had never been depressed and was looking forward to moving.

He added: "We have been over it many times. We can't understand and as you say never will."

Mr Hulett said: "It seems clear on the evidence that she took her own life but why is a complete and utter mystery."
