A PETROL station company has put in a third application to change a popular repair garage into a jet wash.

Murco Petroleum Ltd has applied for a change of use at Manor Garage in Main Road, Walters Ash.

It wants to change the car servicing and repair business to a car jet wash ancillary to existing petrol station and associated external alterations.

Ken Chalmers, who owns Manor Garage and rents the property off Murco, said he was frustrated the company had put yet another application in.

Murco last put an application in on March 11, 2011 for a change of use and this was refused on September 16, 2011.

The application before that was made on September 28, 2010. It was refused and the applicant appealed but this was dismissed.

Six people are employed at the garage and is popular with residents in the area.

Mr Chalmers said: "We have got to battle against it and let people know about it."

Resident Steve Rodrick said: "Manor garage is a thriving local business employing six skilled people which we desperately want to survive. Replacing it with a coin operated jet wash would be scandalous."

The planning application reference is 12/0590/FUL. Deadline for comments on the planning application is May 17.
