PARTYING pooch owners danced the night away at a wild west themed celebration of Marlow Dog Training Club's 50th anniversary.

More than 80 canine loving revellers got into the spirit of the evening at Marlow Rugby Club last week, merrily engaging in some traditional barn dancing, with laughter all around.

The club was transformed into a barn with real hay from a farm and the room was decorated with bunting and balloons.

Committee member and trainer Dorothy Nichols made a special dog themed cake, which was cut by trainer Julie Osborne, who has been connected to the club since she was 14.

Mrs Nichols said: "It was an absolutely brilliant night, everyone all around enjoyed the celebrations.

"I've not laughed so much in a long time and everyone really threw themselves into it."

Mrs Nichols, of Claremont Road, Marlow, said although the dogs were not have been present on the night they were kept in mind.

"There was some cake leftover and the dogs had treats at our next training night," she explained.

The pets have their own special party every year just before Christmas, wearing fancy dress and playing games.

Mrs Nichols said special thanks for organising the do go to Anne Monks, Anne Leonard, Becci Bowman, Julie Allen, Julie Osbourne, Rachel Falkner, Louise Bristow, Verity West and the rugby club.
