COMMUNITY groups will be able to run three libraries in Bucks from Friday after plans were officially approved by the county council.

Proposals to allow volunteers and community groups to run libraries in Great Missenden, Stokenchurch and Iver Heath have been given the green light by Buckinghamshire County Council.

All three could have been closed had nobody come forward to help run them, but their futures have now all been secured after planning approval, financial checks and lease negotiations were concluded this week.

The council wanted community groups to take over the running of the libraries as a money saving exercise. From Friday a total of eight libraries will be in the hands of volunteers.
