A police officer was injured when he tried to stop a man escaping from a petrol station without paying.
The off-duty officer was at Tesco Express in Marlow Road, High Wycombe, on Sunday when he saw a white Vauxhall Astra van at the fuel pumps with its number plates obscured by mud.
Approaching the male at around 3.25pm suspecting that he had not paid for fuel, the man then drove off, injuring the officer in the process.
The van driver is described as being a white man in his late 40s, 5' 10" tall, with balding brown hair.
Investigating officer PC Craig Duncan, from High Wycombe Police Station, said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43180028839".
To give information anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
